Course content
1.Origins of philosophy, the so called neolithic revolution, relation of philosophy and concept of nature in myth and politics. Introduction to philosophy: concept and definition, examples from the history of the concept of philosophy, division of philosophy, relation of philosophy and particular science, philosophy today. 2.Logic, identity, deduction, induction, semiotics. 3.Cognition: theory of truth, issue of criticism, universal concepts. 4.Speculative philosophy: philosophy of mathematical natural history, philosophy of nature, metaphysics. 5.Metaphysics: concept and differentiation, stages of abstraction, knowability of first causes, critique, being in general. 6.General metaphysics - ontology: beings and their structure, act - potency, essence - existence, substance - accident, transcendental concepts, categories, causality. 7.Special metaphysics: its components, cosmology, theodicea. 8.Philosophical anthropology: man and world, substance of man, his self-realization and development. 9.Philosophical theology: science and God, philosophy of religion, present atheism. 10.Practical philosophy: concept and differentiation, good as the meaning of human life, beauty, axiological objectivism and subjectivism, value criterions. 11.Philosophy of art, morality (ethics). 12.Philosophy of law 13.natural law and philosophy 14.Philosophy of politics 15.Concise history of philosophy 16.Present debates and approaches to environment from the philosophical point of view. 17.Position of sustainable development, pertaining discussion, philosophical origins of the concept of health and environment as a cultural pattern.

Learning activities and teaching methods
Learning outcomes
Philosophy and myth, the origin of philosophy from myths and politics, philosophy and the concept of nature. The philosophical view of the relationships of economy, politics and ecology. The impacts of the economical process of reproduction on the environment. From the local and regional problems of the environment to the global ecological problems of the Earth, and back.. The principles of sustainable development (of life) and the related debates. The changes of value orientations, the conception of a healthy environment as an organic part of living standards in contradiction to a solely consumer approach to life. The in-depth ecology. The philosophical appraising of the views of philosophers ´, politicians ´and sociologists ´ ecological thinking, their position in society.
Acquirement of basic information about the philosophical concept of nature and the philosophy of environment on the basis of the history of philosophy.

Assessment methods and criteria
Seminar essay 5-8 pages on chosen topic. Knowledge of lectures and mandatory literature.
