Course content
1. Space in economics. Economic surround system. 2. Region, regionalization. Types of regions, homogeneous and nodal regions, typology of regions in Europe. 3. Regional economic structure. The economic base of regions and cities, agglomeration effect, evaluating economic performance. 4. Methods of regional analysis. Introduction, principles, indexes, coefficients, location analysis, index localization, localization ratio. 5. Theory localization. Development of theories, the modern theory of localization. 6. Factors affecting the economic level. Localization of companies, firms and public administration. 7. Branch characteristic of firms.The intensity of regional relations, organizational form, company size, demographic situation, sectoral policies. 8. The labor market in a regional perspective. Neoclassical and Keynesian approach. 9. Basic theoretical approaches in the regional economy. 10. Neoclassical and neoliberal approaches. Location theory, growth theory. 11th Keynesian approaches. Growth pole theory, structuralist approaches, regulation theory and Fordism. 12. The institutional approaches. Classification of the actors of regional development from the perspective of regionalist theories. 13. The issue of effectiveness at the level of municipalities (towns). Assets of municipalities and regions in its function of socio-economic development, development in the country.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to introduce with the nature the regional economy, spatial organization of the economy and the localization of economic activities. The course enables to learn and understand the processes that lead to the spatial arrangement of regional economy and society. Students are able to work with basic theoretical concepts of regional economics, use methods of analysis and spatial localization of socio-economic differentiation.

- Attendance at lectures is recommended, attendance at seminars is required (minimum participation of 75%). - During the seminars, students can gain points that will count in the final result exam test (maximum 10 points). - Evaluation will be based on the Final examination test, obtained number of points will be classified: 85%-100%: Excellent 84%- 75%: Very good 74%- 65%: Good 0%- 64%: Fail
