Course content
1. Basics of Law The notion of law, rule of law, the foundations of the constitutional order of the Czech Republic, the Constitution of the Czech Republic 2. Legal standards and regulations Sources of law and legal norms, the structure of legal norms, the structure of the Czech legal order and system of law 3. Interpretation and application of law Principles of interpretation of the law, types of interpretations, analogies and retroactivity, court decisions and their significance 4. Principles of organization of administrative bodies State bodies and organizations exercising their powers, establishment of ministries and other administrative bodies 5. The administrative management The basic principles of administrative proceedings, types of proceedings, appeals, extraordinary legal remedies command 6. Territorial government The constitution of local government, municipalities, counties, municipalities and regional authorities and their powers 7. Fundamentals of Civil Law Basic concepts of the Civil Code and substantive law, family law in the new Civil Code 8th Liability Law Basic rules of contract law and other commitments, contracts 9th Rights in rem Introduction to property rights, ownership, community property, easements 10th Damages Liability rules, the liability of minors kinds of liability for damage 11th Judicial proceedings The organization of courts, principles and types of court proceedings, the course of civil proceedings 12. Principles of EU law Under European Union law, the sources and types of regulations related to national authorities 13. Position of foreigners and asylum seekers Foreign law, the status and protection of foreigners in the Czech Republic, acquiring citizenship, the right to asylum

After successfully completing the course, students will be able to: - Describe the basic institutions of the rule of law and the legal system - Formulate a rule of law and to know its interpretation - Understand the organization of state bodies - Understand the basics of local government - Know the basic branches of law and EU law
