Course content
Lecture Topics: 1. week: The theory of management, historical development, managerial schools, managerial cycle, managerial roles and processes 2. week: Strategic management, organizational structure, organizational order, the culture of an organisation, its influence and change 3. week: The management of human resources, career planning, personell and agenda, the code in the hands of a manager 4. week: Problem solving, searching for the causes and solutions, analytic and creative thinking, legal norms in the work of a manager in a medical institution 5. week: Quality management, the standards of care, quality of care, risk management, internal and external evaluation of quality Seminar Topics: 1. week: Creation of organizational structure of a specific type of hospital (focus on a joint stock company with several affiliated facilities) 2. week: PEST analysis, SWOT analysis, root analysis 3. week: Preparation of a personal backup of a facility in relation to the regulation 99/ 2012 Sb. about personal equipment, calculating the necessary amount of workers of individual categories, creation of monthly plan of services for non-medical staff of a bed ward 4. week: Problem solving techniques: practical training 5. week: Creation of a plan of internal audit of a bed ward

Learning outcomes
The subject is theoretically - practical. It teaches the basics of modern management of material and human resources and strategies of quality management in medical and social services systems. Students will know the theory of quality management, the methods of standard creation for direct health care and the methods of auditive activity in birth assistance. They will know individual types of organizational structures and their application in different types of institutions. They will learn the term "organizational culture" and the basic types of organizational cultures in relation to national and multinational companies. Students will learn the techniques of problem solving. The focus is also put on strategic management in medical services.
Subject Knowledge: Student knows the terms such as strategic management; he knows what influences an organization, its inner and outer environment. Based on the level of management he is able to identify the type of direction and activities of the managers. He knows the techniques used for problem solving and managerial decision making. Students know the terms from the area of quality management and they are able to work with them in the quality management system, in preparation of internal and external evaluation of the quality of provided care. Student knows some basic characteristics of organizational culture and techniques used for changing organizational culture. In the field of human resources management the student knows how the career planning of the staff works, he knows the term "adaptation process"and he knows the requirements for a graduate of non-medical profession. Student knows some basic characteristics of management cycle and managerial roles and processes. He is able to describe activities related to some stages of the cycle. Professional skills: Student is able to identify the vision of the institution and suggest a strategy. He is able to to choose correct organizational structure in relation to the specific type of an institution and fill the positions with suitable candidates. He is able to identify current organizational culture and actively participate in influencing or changing it. He is able to choose sufficient problem solving technique and find the cause and solution to the situation. In the area of human resources the student is able to deal with adaptation process of the employees, and provide care by securing individual non-medical staff respecting the need of individual medical fields and current legal norms. He is able to create a shift plan with a consideration of the needs of the employees and respecting the labour code. Considering quality management system the student is able to prepare the materials for internal audit, perform the audit and evaluate the results effectively.
