Learning outcomes
The course is designed as theoretically - practical. It introduces the fundamentals of modern management of material and human resources, the strategies of quality management in the systems of health and social services. A student will learn the theory of quality management, the methods of direct nursing care standards development and the methods of auditory activities in nursing. A student will learn about the different types of organizational structures and their use in different types of institutions. A student will become familiar with the concept of organizational culture and the basic types of organizational cultures in relation to national and multinational companies. A student will become familiar with the techniques used in problem solving. An attention is also paid to the strategic management of health services.
Subject knowledge A student is familiar with the concepts of strategic management, strategic management, knows the influences that affect an organization, its external and internal environment. A student is able to determine the predominant type of management and the operations of managers according to the level of management. A student knows the techniques used in problem solving and managerial decision making. A student knows the concepts of the field of management quality and is able to work in a quality management system, during the preparation for internal and external evaluation of the quality of provided care. The student taking this block of lectures and seminars knows the basic characteristics of the organizational culture and is familiar with the techniques used to change organizational culture, in the area of human resource management. A student knows how the career planning of health workers is done, in the area of human resource management, understands the term of "adaptation process" and knows what demands are required in graduate paramedical professions. A student knows the basic characteristics of the management cycle and managerial roles and processes. A student can describe activities that bind to a certain stage. Professional skills The student, taking part in this block of lectures and seminars, is able to determine a vision of an institution and a design strategy. A student is able to choose an appropriate organizational structure in relation to a particular type of institution and occupy various positions with suitable staff. A student is able to identify the existing organizational culture and actively participate in its influence and possible change if it is need. A student is able to select the appropriate technique and on its basis to find the cause of a problem and propose a solution to challenging situations when solving problems. A student can, in the area of human resources, deal with the adaptation process of employees and can ensure the care by non-medical healthcare workers in accordance with the needs of particular medical disciplines in relation to legal standards. A student is able to write the plan of shifts so that they take into consideration the needs of individual employees as well as the Labour Code. A student is able to prepare materials for an internal audit, implement it and evaluate it effectively, within the quality management system.
