Course content
1. Qualifications and competences for managerial jobs. Prerequisites. Lifelong education. 2. Self-determination, self-analysis, qualities of the manager, behavior, styles of management in theory and practice. 3. Team work - importance, approaches. Role in the team - Belbin test. 4. Management as an everyday activity, the art of management, principles. 5. Planning working time, techniques of planning and aids. 6. Decision making as an unconditional activity, techniques for decision making, use of methods. 7. Management of people, motivation, behavior of the manager, assessment o employees, solution of conflicts. 8. Effective meetings, preparation, realization, assessment. Shortages. 9. Effective communication - transaction analysis, external and internal communication. Effective telephoning. 10. Written communication - business correspondence. Content, layout, style. 11. Technical means, their possibilities and principles for their use. 12. Techniques for self-presentation - written, spoken. In a personal contact, in a small group, before a large audience. Ethics of the manager. 13. Interview, short lists, preparation from the point of view of the employee and the manager. Principles for conducting the interview. 14. Documentation of the manager. Assessment of the set project.

Learning outcomes
The course focuses on the issues of direct management, managerial skills and methods of conflicts prevention. Its goal is to enhance the competence and skills in the area of self-conception and self-analysis, team-work, motivation, work organisation and time management; to demonstrate ways of conflict solutions, staff assessment, meeting management, ICT utilisation, correspondence processing and letters wording; to acquire fundamental knowledge of job interview preparation and its management, managerial ethics, the long-life education and competence of managers etc.
Graduates are capable of processing their own self-analysis and apply its results, to determine their role in a team, compile their own time management, assess a degree of their own assertiveness, apply principles of communication rules, set up a business letter, apply principles of meeting management and assess meeting achievements, solve simple conflicts, to know how to apply principles of job interview preparation.

Assessment methods and criteria
Attendance at both seminars is mandatory, requirement is 100% participation (maximum 50 points). Assissment based on following assignments: a) propose of documentation (personal folder), and submission for inspection at the specified time (20%, maximum 10 points); b) propose of homework for their own presentation and surrender for inspection at the specified time (30%, maximum 15 points); c) the presentation of our results, team work (20%, maximum 15 points); d) final test (30%, maximum 10 points). Course grade will beawarded according to the total score in the range of 0 -100 points credit on the following fading scale: 80 - 100 points: passed, fulfilment 0 - 79 points: not passed In the case of non-fulfilment for granting the credit there is the right to have one remedial attempt.
