Course content
1. Public sector, its irreplaceability, national economy division according to specific criteria. 2. Social needs sector, public sector financing options. 3. Justice, meaning, function, organizational division, financing. 4. Prison service, meaning, mission, organizational division, financing. 5. Police, characteristics, mission, systemic division, funding. 6. State defence, security policy, state defence economy. 7. Education system, position of schools in public sector, institutional security, financing. 8. Culture, elements of culture economic system, state economic function. 9. Physical education, sport, meaning, mission, function, P. E. and sports products, financing. 10.Health care, mission, health care system, economic aspects, financing. 11.Social services, provision significance, typology, subjects, financing sources. 12.Churches and religious denominations, various relationships between state and church, financing models. 13.Science and research, significance for development of national economy, financing principles. 14.Information systems in public sector, structure, types of registers in the Czech Rep. Mass media.

Learning outcomes
The course is aimed at the comprehension of the meaning and functioning of specific companies providing a wide range of services satisfying the inhabitants' needs within the national economy. The point is to demonstrate the need for solutions of specific issues of services significantly affecting the quality of life in the society and representing a vital factor of the economy's functioning.
After a successful completion of this course, students will be able to compare information and data in the services industry, to analyse it critically, to determine, describe and explain essential issues and trend developments, and thus from the environmental as well as the economic point of view. Furthermore, they will be able to discuss, to form and to present their own opinion of these issues.

Assessment methods and criteria

Lecture attendance is recommended, not obligatory. Standard assissment based on following assignments: a) presentation of current information on the subject taught in the range of about 15 - 20 minutes (20%) b) in writing exam (80%) Course grade will beawarded according to the total score in the range of 1 -10 points bassed on the following fading scale: 9 - 10 points: Excellent (1) 7 - 8 points: Very good (2) 5 - 6 points: Good (3) 0 - 4 points: Fail without make-up option (4) In the event of assissment (4) exist to right of 2 correcting attempts (conditions for completing the first attempt), marks will be awarded according to the above scale.
