Course content
1. Defining terms - organization and management of production, production process, structure, programme, types of production, modern approaches. 2. Preparation of production - content, organization, planning, creation, selection of products and technologies, modern methods. 3. Management of quality I - complex management, systems, legal framework, procedures. 4. Management of quality II - economic aspects, cost of quality, approaches, methods and techniques for improvement. 5. Development trends of quality management, modern approaches, experience from the US, Japan, policy of quality in the CR, systems of accreditation, certification. 6. Production capacity - definition, importance for planning, factors influencing the capacity, calculations. 7. Operating management of production - importance and tasks, operational planning, securing, management of the process, operating records. 8. Personal security for production - division of labour, cooperation, personnel management, planning, norming, psychological aspects influencing performance, assessment of departments and organizations. 9. Organization and planning of the operation of production equipment, maintenance, systems of maintenance according to types of machinery. 10. Introduction to logistics - principles and importance, flow of material, goods, services, birth and development of logistics, logistic processes and systems, chains and nets typology, informational systems. 11. Production logistics - division, methods, role of distribution, stocks, transport and manipulation with material and goods, internal logistics, cross-section logistics. 12. Informational systems in production I - importance of information technology, overview of basic informational flows, technical means. 13. Informational systems II - ensuring informational flows, organization of the architecture of informational systems, development tendencies, principles for communication, participation of users. 14. Methods for analysis and modeling of organization and management of production - net analysis, theory of queues, sequence problems, synchronization, theory of renewal and others.

Learning outcomes
The aim of the course is to acquire basic theoretical knowledge of the management and organization of production and an overview of methods and their application in business practice. The course deals with competences and reliabilities at individual levels, makes students acquainted with standard methods and approaches leading to rationalization of production processes. Great attention is paid to the management of quality, systems of quality and logical connections.
After completing the course successfully, students will be able to: - describe production process and possibilities of work organization at shop floors and workshops; - explain the importance and process of preparation and organization of production activities; - determine the conditions necessary to initiation and operation of production; - evaluate the production capacity of the production machinery and equipment, compare it with the scheduled tasks, identify narrow profile and suggest possible solutions; - evaluate the selection of machinery and equipment reparations in various types of enterprises; - compare the application of quality management systems in production plants in Czech Republic and abroad, their strengths and weaknesses, suggest conditions for the introduction of quality management system in the enterprise; - recommend basic active and passive elements of the logistics for the creation of a logistics system of the production plant.

Lecture attendance is recommended, not obligatory. Standard assissment based on following assignments: a) presentation of current information on the subject taught in the range of about 15 - 20 minutes (20%) b) in writing exam (80%) Course grade will beawarded according to the total score in the range of 1 -10 points bassed on the following fading scale: 9 - 10 points: Excellent (1) 7 - 8 points: Very good (2) 5 - 6 points: Good (3) 0 - 4 points: Fail without make-up option (4) In the event of assissment (4) exist to right of 2 correcting attempts (conditions for completing the first attempt), marks will be awarded according to the above scale.
