Course content

Learning activities and teaching methods
Learning outcomes
Mechanics of Particles (Newton laws, inertial and non-inertial systems, Galilei transformation, center of mass, momentum, angular momentum, works and energy, laws of conservation, central forces, planet motion, scattering, harmonic oscilation). Rigid Body Mechanics (Euler angles and Euler equations, kinetic energy and angular momentum, inertia tensor, tops, precession and nutation, rotation about a fixed axis, Steiner theorem). Analytical Mechanic (generalized coordinates, virtual displacements and d'Alembert principle, Lagrangian equations, Hamilton's principle, Hamilton's equations, canonical transformations). Continuum Mechanics (deformation tensor, stress tensor, Hooke's law, dynamic of continuum, Navier-Stokes and Euler equations, hydrostatics, Archimedes law, Pascal law, stationary, turbulent and laminar fluctuation).
