The aim of the seminar is to master the classical photographic process (from handling a photo camera up to developing the negative and making the positive) completely, both theoretically and practically, as well as to acquire basic knowledge of the principle of digital photography (from handling a digital camera to transferring data to, and basic data editing in the computer). The students learn about operation and equipment of a photographic studio, where they realize partial assignments. After completing the course, the students are able to document their graphic works on their own, or to create photographic material for further creative activities in their discipline. During the seminars, the students also obtain information about outstanding personalities of contemporary photography both in the Czech Republic and abroad, about use of the photographic medium and its blending with other graphic disciplines, they learn about the latest trends, and thanks to that, they get a general overview of the contemporary photography scene. Besides the basic purpose, i.e. technical mastering of the whole photographic process, the course develops the ability to use photography not just as a documentation means, but also as an option of individual expression.
