Learning outcomes
The aim of the subject is to acquaint the students with the antique arts from the Aegean civilization up to the period of the decline of the Roman Empire, covering the period from 1500 BC to AD 500. Great attention is devoted to putting the antique culture in historical context, and to geographical and geopolitical aspects, which influence forming of arts. Lectures are not to be an encyclopedic listing of monuments and authors, but rather searching for development lines, continuity of European art and understanding the significance of Greek, Etruscan, and Roman antique for further development of European art, especially for the early Christian and Byzantine art, and for today. The students further learn about content of selected artworks, about their possible interpretation, and about didactic use of the knowledge.
The gained capabilities constitute an encompassment and an aquirement of knowledge and experience in the given field of study, they result from a concrete annotation of the subject and are aimed at a profile´s fulfilment of the graduate of the given field of study.
