Learning outcomes
The course is devoted to the issue of the current social role of art, its possibilities, and the limits of the relationship between authors and clients. The programme of the course is divided into theoretical thematic areas: Art as a social act, sense of arts, and development of its social role in history. Brief history of art from the point of view of social situations, origin and history of public art. Survey of theoretical and methodological procedures necessary for understanding the social role of art, aesthetics and sociology of art , the structure of contemporary society, the "public" category and its delimitation. Public art, art as expressing an individuality, and art in a social context, public and political art. Origin, activities, function, and aims of centers for contemporary art, curator activities, and their variants. In its practical part, the course deals with the specifics of production of a public-art project.
The gained capabilities constitute an encompassment and an aquirement of knowledge and experience in the given field of study, they result from a concrete annotation of the subject and are aimed at a profile´s fulfilment of the graduate of the given field of study.
