Learning outcomes
A cycle of lectures on development of world and Czech photography, including their theoretical reflection covering the period from 1960 up to the present day. Further to Theory and history of photography III and IV, the course studies the link between photography and contemporary art, but also fashion and reportage photography. It deals with metamorphoses the photography has gone through with the onset of conceptual artistic tendencies, performance, land-art, etc., which often reduced photography to a recording medium. It acquaints the students with using new technologies, digital records, computer manipulation of image, and with the onset of videoart, which have brought photography to a dominant position in development of visual art over the last decade. Basic thematic areas: 1/ Postwar humanistic and reportage photography, photographers of Magnum Group 2/ Photographic records of action land-art, especially in 1960's 3/ Photography as a medium and inspiration for pop-art. Andy Warhol's work, Gilbert a George as inspiration resources for creation in 1990's 4/ Onset of videoart and new technologies in art in 1970's, connection with the Fluxus artistic movement, the second wave of videoart and electronic media in art in 1980's 5/ History of Czechoslovak photography and videoart from 1970's up to the present day
The gained capabilities constitute an encompassment and an aquirement of knowledge and experience in the given field of study, they result from a concrete annotation of the subject and are aimed at a profile´s fulfilment of the graduate of the given field of study.
