Learning outcomes
The course contents focuses on exploring the past and the present of art handicraft and design since the coming of modernism (in the 1890's) up to the present day. The subject tries to define the above-mentioned terms, and to determine the differences between the individual categories. Apart from the systematic categorization of general theses, the cycle of lectures is also concurrently focused on the particularities of Czech and Central-European art handicraft (secession, art-deco, cubism, Brussels style), and their involvement in the all-European and worldwide context. Special attention is given to overlaps of art handicraft into (from) the spheres of free art or architecture. The lectures also marginally touch the issues of restoring and conservation of subjects of the cultural heritage.
The gained capabilities constitute an encompassment and an aquirement of knowledge and experience in the given field of study, they result from a concrete annotation of the subject and are aimed at a profile´s fulfilment of the graduate of the given field of study.
